First Week in the Books!

 Good Afternoon,

I hope you all shared the same joy and excitement I had as we embarked on the new school year this week. Everything went very smoothly and I appreciate your patience as we navigate this year together. In Room 95 we had an excellent week of getting to know each other, building classroom community, and learning routines and concepts that will lead to a successful year. Expect email updates from your student's Google Calendar (Agenda) starting next week; they did great with this as we used this week as a practice week.

Here's a quick rundown of how each learning area looked this week:

Math: We discussed how mathematicians work and what is math. That mistakes are powerful and show we are growing our brain! Also, we discussed how math looks, feels, and sounds like in our class, and how math talk is with others and with ourselves...POSITIVE!

Writing: A lot of writing happened this week! Various forms of writing we observed happening in our classroom and lives, and learned how we can generate ideas, what and why people write, and what tools writers use! It was great to see so much excitement around writing!

Reading: Students had books in hands and the room was filled with avid readers engaged in various stories. We learned that to make reading THE BEST we should: find a good spot, talk about our books, choose books we love, and treat books like they are GOLD! We are building our reading lives, and can't wait to see the readers continue to grow this year.
