A Great End to Celebrate NDLC Week!

Image
Good Afternoon, Today we ended our Celebrate NDLC week with a Glow Party, and a game day afternoon. It was a great way to end the week, where the kids were able to just play and spend time with classmates. We were also able to learn about our school mascot the Husky in a presentation in the gym today where we were able to see a real Husky! The 3rd Graders have all been working so hard all year, and it was great to see the excitement in the room/school as we had another successful week at NDLC. It's weeks like these that remind myself just how thankful I am to be a part of this school community, and I hope all the students and families feel the same way. Week in Review: Writing: Essay writers became more independent this week working through the writing process. They chose their own books of a read aloud from this school year that they wanted to write their literary essay about. It's been great to see the continued growth from the writers! Math: This week was filled with a unit

Good Afternoon, As students headed home after their half day of school it was clear to see the joy and excitement on the faces as we wrapped up another week of school. The 3rd graders have been working so hard daily, and what I have really enjoyed is seeing each student growing in their confidence academically but also socially. It truly feels like a family in the classroom where everyone knows each other well, and gets along while treating everyone with respect and kindness. I hope everyone enjoys their day off Monday as I am looking forward to another fun filled week with Celebrate NDLC Week coming up Week in Review: Writing: Writers completed their first week of writing literary essays where they learned new strategies to lift the level of their writing.  Good Afternoon, This week felt long to students as they completed their winter i-Ready, and other mid year assessments as we are heading towards the end of our first semester. Students worked extremely hard, and they kept a positive attitude through it all as it gives us as teachers and staff a one day snapshot of where we are at, and where we can best continue with every student on this learning journey we are all on together. I'm proud of all the work and growth the students have made so far, and I'm excited to see where they can continue to grow as we head into the second part of our school year in the next week. Week in Review: Writing: Writers began their writing of literary essays this past week. Writers worked with the same class read aloud for their first 3 essays, and used their knowledge of opinion writing to help start off strong lifting the level of their first few essays. Math: Our mathematicians are taking their knowledge of multiplication and division, and now

Good Afternoon, As we wrap up our first week back in school for 2022 it was great to see all the students back in the classrooms and hallways as the energy in the building was fantastic. Students seemed very excited to be back, and their learning this week reflected that as they transitioned back very well hitting the ground running. Everyone seemed refreshed after winter break, and I am looking forward to seeing the growth both academically and socially as we continue into 2022! Week in Review: Writing: Writers finished up their opinion writing unit by typing up their favorite piece of writing during the unit. Writers worked with their partners to make sure their final piece was the best they had written using all the different strategies they learned during the unit. We will be sending those opinion pieces to the audience that the writers want! Math: Students have been working on building their knowledge in multiplication and division in our unit, with a an emphasis on learning 6s,7s
