Goodbye Week 4!

Good Afternoon, This has been a week that I know I won't forget. The thing I will remember is how gracious and open all of you were to make the virtual learning transition as smooth as possible, and I am extremely thankful for that. If there are things that you are concerned about in terms of virtual learning for this next week, please let me know and we will work together to make sure we can set up everyone to have continued success.  Here are a few updates I can share with you: Picture Day for our class will be the scheduled make up date which is November 11th. You can send picture form backs before then and I can keep them at school. Our scheduled return to classroom date is October 5th. Content Update: Math: This week we worked on exploring multidigit addition and discussed different addition methods. We discussed how having multiple strategies to use when working in math helps us be able to process and make sense of what is being asked.  Writing: Students are in the writing p

Week 3 is a Wrap!

Good Afternoon, I hope this finds everyone well and healthy as we start to transition to fall outside. With a full week of learning gone, we were able to get so much learning done this week, and the growth and progress is evident as the students are responding well to pushing themselves to be their best self. I'm very proud of our classroom community we are establishing as we all learn how to work best with each other so everyone can be successful. Classroom Updates: Reading: We made the transition this week to not only learning how to make our reading life the best, but how readers understand stories. We do this by checking ourselves for comprehension (did that make sense?), asking ourselves what mind work is this part asking me to do, and lastly making predictions based off of what has happened and how stories tend to go! Writing: This week we finished up our personal narrative stories, and began the planning process towards our realistic fiction stories. It was great to see all

We are on to Week 3!

Good Afternoon, We had another week filled with learning in 3rd Grade along with building our classroom community which has made Room 95 feel like home. The students are doing an excellent job of being kind to one another, learning about each other, and learning from one another as we progress together on our learning journeys. Here is an update of the week and what to expect from the week ahead. Reading: The 3rd graders continued to learn strategies on how to build a strong reading life, and we have had a tremendous classroom atmosphere of respecting others to make sure everyone has an environment to become the best reader they can. Writing: Students were tasked to bring home their tiny topic notebooks to get ideas to put in there. We are working in a narrative unit, and looking for stories about ourselves and the small moments in our lives we can write about. Writers find ideas from even the smallest things so the help of realizing small moments can be turned into stories is sometime

First Week in the Books!

Good Afternoon, I hope you all shared the same joy and excitement I had as we embarked on the new school year this week. Everything went very smoothly and I appreciate your patience as we navigate this year together. In Room 95 we had an excellent week of getting to know each other, building classroom community, and learning routines and concepts that will lead to a successful year. Expect email updates from your student's Google Calendar (Agenda) starting next week; they did great with this as we used this week as a practice week. Here's a quick rundown of how each learning area looked this week: Math: We discussed how mathematicians work and what is math. That mistakes are powerful and show we are growing our brain! Also, we discussed how math looks, feels, and sounds like in our class, and how math talk is with others and with ourselves...POSITIVE! Writing: A lot of writing happened this week! Various forms of writing we observed happening in our classroom and lives, and le
