Thanksgiving Week

Image
Good Afternoon, As we head into next week with only two school days before Thanksgiving break, I hope everyone is able to take some time to do things they love with family and friends. This time of the year can feel stressful with so many "things" going on, but I hope every one is able to enjoy the time. Thank you for everyone for your time during conferences as I love being able to connect with everyone, and talk about all the great things students are doing daily. I am extremely thankful to be able to have students back in person, and is one thing I have learned in the past year that is a classroom is nothing without the joy and curiosity students bring into it every day. Thank you for all of your time and support, and hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving break. Week in Review: Writing:  Writers concluded their informational writing units where they taught about topics that they were passionate, and had lots of knowledge on. We will wrap up this unit next week, and will end with celebrations for the writers to display all of their teaching. Math: Students reviewed concepts we have covered in class as we look to grasp a strong understanding on the nuts and bolts of multip

A Pivot in Our Learning

Good Afternoon, As we transitioned to virtual learning today, and through next week in brings on new challenges for everyone. I want to say it was amazing to see the students through Google Meet, and for those that were able to join they navigated the first day extremely well. Their are always going to be hiccups and nothing will be perfect, but one of the most important things I have learned through virtual teaching/learning is trying to keep engagement high, and students excitement about learning high each day, which will be our goal this next week. Tips for Virtual: Writing: Making sure students have the extra papers, and plans near them so we can maximize that writing time because writing can be difficult virtually, but will have them with their partners to help keep engagement high and they can share ideas with them right away. Math: We will continue daily to practice their math facts on Xtra Math. This is routine for students at this point, and from their will have extra oppor
