Good Afternoon, We wrapped up another month of school today, and it is hard to believe we only have one month of school left in this school year. It's been a great to be on the learning journey with all of the students, and as we head into the final month its amazing to reflect on the growth and progress that everyone has made. I am excited to see the students continue to grow this final month of school for the 2021-2022 year! Week in Review: Writing: Writers began their final writing unit where they are able to write realistic fiction stories. This is a brand new unit from Teachers College that our school is being able to use before it goes public next year. The writers are loving being able to create their own characters in this writing, and bring them to life using a lot of the strategies they have learned from their how to write a true story unit. Math: Students had their unit test to end the week, and worked on any corrections to solidify their learning in this unit. We will

Good Afternoon, Today as a class we celebrated all of the hard work and efforts the students put into test prep, and Forward testing with some treats to end the day. The students did such an amazing job, and they should all feel very proud of themselves and their efforts. I want to thank all of you for the support of your child at home because the students showed up confident, and ready to take it on and "show off" their knowledge. It's a challenging few weeks to stay focused and engaged, and they were champions in their effort and determination, and I am extremely proud of all the students. Week in Review: Writing: Writers worked with their writing groups to put together their own versions of "Who Would Win" books. They are finishing up final revisions, and will be sending it to printing and publication very soon! Keep an eye out for their work! Math: Students had their WI Forward math session this week, and we had our final quick quiz to wrap up our week. Ever

Good Afternoon, Shorter blog this week as we had the short week heading into break. I hope everyone has an enjoyable break, and much needed for the students because they have been working so hard since they came back from winter break making such great growth. This past week they began working on a culminating writing book with their research groups that brought great excitement that writers will be working together on the publication process next week. We continued our math prep as we have our final two days of Forward testing April 20th and 21st which will be the two math sessions. Readers worked to finalize any additional research for their books, and we spent time working on Identity Webs to understand who we are as individuals, and celebrating the differences that we all have that make us all special and unique. One student put it best, "the world would be really boring if we were all the same." Lastly, our journey of research began on animals through time where students

Last Full Week Heading into Break!

Good Afternoon, I know it was a long week for the students as they persevered through testing for 3 days. After completing it, they felt relived, proud, and so many other emotions I'm sure, but I am so extremely proud of every single one of them. They pushed themselves all throughout test prep to be prepared and ready, and when it came to "Gameday" they felt confident, and put forth their best effort which is what we all ever wanted from them. I am thankful for their efforts they have put in, and their growth is evident, but they have earned a much deserving break next week being off from school Thursday, Friday and Monday. Week in Review: Writing: Writers did an excellent job on their essays they had to write for the Forward! Really amazing to see all of their hard work put into such great writing! Math: Students began their new unit on measuring working with metric and customary units of measurements, and ended the week with a quick quiz that is coming home today that e

Good Afternoon, As we embark on another month of learning and growing, we head into the beginning of Forward testing beginning next week Tuesday. The schedule for next week has us testing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the morning. Students will be doing a Writing portion Tuesday, Listening/Writing Language on Wednesday, and Reading on Thursday. We want to make sure students are getting a good nights sleep coming into each day as well as a breakfast either at home or school to maximize energy and stamina on the test. If you would like to write your child a motivational message or encouraging words, please feel free to email me the message and I will make sure it is printed out for your child to read before taking their tests! The students are ready, and we are treating this like our expectations are for every other day which is having a positive attitude and giving our best effort! Week in Review : Writing: Writers worked through prompts to try and construct responses that
