Last Full Week of September is gone!

Good Afternoon,

It has been a great start to the school year in the month of September, and it makes me realize on a day where the school has no students in it how much energy and life they bring to our classroom everyday. It's been so enjoyable getting to know everyone a little better every day, and the students are engaged in their learning to want to do well daily! We have a busy week next week with various things going on, so I will keep this short in the beginning, but just know that our school is the best because of the students that come in here every day!

Week in Review:

Writing: Writers turned to story tellers in the beginning of the week, setting down their pens and really focusing on their voice when telling narrative stories. It was great to see the transfer into their writing when they finally started writing, and it has been awesome to see the growth and engagement in just a few weeks.

Math: Students had their first quick quiz which they talked about on Seesaw, explaining their learning and thinking. Then we ended the week working with addition and learning some addition strategies to help us when tackling those types of problems.

Reading: Readers are continuing to read lots of pages in their series books, but also focused on authors this week with an emphasis on  the different craft moves authors make!

Content: Researchers were focusing on flowers, with an emphasis on plant life cycle and heredity!

A Look Ahead:

  • Spread the Love Food Drive
  • September 27-October 1st

The first service project for the 2021-2022 school year will be the Spread the Love Food Drive for St. Joseph Food Pantry in Menasha. 

St. Joseph’s Pantry is in high need of  peanut butter and jelly.  We will be collecting plastic jars of peanut butter and jelly the week of September 27-October 1st.   Students can bring items to their classroom for donation.  The class that brings in the most items will win a prize for the class!

Tuesday 9/28 - Silly Socks

Wednesday 9/29 - School Color Day  Wear Purple! (There is a parade in the PM but elementary schools will not be walking in it)

Thursday 9/30 - Disney and/or Superhero Day

Friday 10/1 - Kaukauna Spirit Day!

 Good Afternoon, As we approach the midway point of November with Thanksgiving break around the corner it's a great time to stop and reflect on the learning journey so far. With conferences happening I always enjoy this time because it allows us the time to reflect on the journey so far, and the progress we want to continue to strive for going forward. Everyone has so much to be proud of in their child, and I am thankful to be on this learning journey with all of them.  Week in Review: In math, we are approaching the end of our unit working with multiplication and division. End of April!

Good Afternoon, We wrapped up another month of school today, and it is hard to believe we only have one month of school left in this school year. It's been a great to be on the learning journey with all of the students, and as we head into the final month its amazing to reflect on the growth and progress that everyone has made. I am excited to see the students continue to grow this final month of school for the 2021-2022 year! Week in Review: Writing: Writers began their final writing unit where they are able to write realistic fiction stories. This is a brand new unit from Teachers College that our school is being able to use before it goes public next year. The writers are loving being able to create their own characters in this writing, and bring them to life using a lot of the strategies they have learned from their how to write a true story unit. Have An Enjoyable Spring Break!

Good Afternoon, Shorter blog this week as we had the short week heading into break. I hope everyone has an enjoyable break, and much needed for the students because they have been working so hard since they came back from winter break making such great growth. This past week they began working on a culminating writing book with their research groups that brought great excitement that writers will be working together on the publication process next week. We continued our math prep as we have our final two days of Forward testing April 20th and 21st which will be the two math sessions. Readers worked to finalize any additional research for their books, and we spent time working on Identity Webs to understand who we are as individuals, and celebrating the differences that we all have that make us all special and unique.
