October is at Halftime!

Good Afternoon,

This past week was a transition week for the class with starting new units in both writing and reading. The students are building strong habits, and it is clear the growth that is being made by various teachers and staff that come into our room. The students earned the GOLDEN BOOK for having the top score in meeting expectations in Library for the past month! The class has really started to gel together, and hit a stride here in the month of October and it will be great to see all the continued growth they are going to make!

Week in Review:

Writing: Writer began their second unit which is informational writing, and began on their planning process of what they want to teach their readers all about.

Math: Students concluded their first unit it math, and will be starting their next math unit on Monday where the focus will  be around multiplication and division.

Reading: Readers started their second unit which is focused on non-fiction reading, and one of the main goals for this unit is for readers to be able to identify the main idea of the text they are reading.

Leader in Me: Our class talked about Proactive Language. Ask your child, "What does proactive language sound like?"

Content: Researchers finished their projects, and had a Kahoot Assessment on their learning from our science unit. Social Studies will begin next week!

A Look Ahead:

  • FIELD TRIP MONDAY: Keep an eye out for the weather for Monday in terms of extra layers. Also, if you would like to send an old pillow case or bag for your child to put their pumpkin in that would be great! Everyone has sent in their forms, so we are all set to leave Monday afternoon once they finish lunch at school, and will be returning around 2:45. Pictures will be sent from our day!
  • No School October 28th & 29th for students.
That's all for this week!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Mr. VW
