11 Weeks of our Learning Journey Completed!
Good Afternoon,
As we approach the midway point of November with Thanksgiving break around the corner it's a great time to stop and reflect on the learning journey so far. With conferences happening I always enjoy this time because it allows us the time to reflect on the journey so far, and the progress we want to continue to strive for going forward. Everyone has so much to be proud of in their child, and I am thankful to be on this learning journey with all of them.
Week in Review:
In math, we are approaching the end of our unit working with multiplication and division. Students are working hard understanding what the problem is asking us to come up with in terms of an equation, then solving that equation. The math talk has been great, and the confidence is growing in everyone as they work to master these concepts.
Our writers are working extremely hard to show off their expertise in the topic they chose for their informational books. As we begin the writing process again with a second expert topic, students are working towards mastering the skills of informational writing.
The nonfiction unit of reading is winding down as students are setting goals as to what they can get stronger at as well as what they are doing well at in nonfiction reading. Students have been working to attain the unit goals of being able to identify main ideas and supporting details in the informational texts they are reading; our Mystery Unit is set to kick off in the middle of next week which is always a favorite!
A Look Ahead:
Conferences Tuesday, November 17th
Half Day Friday, November 20th. 11:28 Dismissal.
Picture Day for our class is still TBD but we will have one, I promise!
Enjoy the Weekend,
Mr. VW
Thank you for all you do for these kids! They are lucky to have such a caring teacher :)
