October is here!

 Good Afternoon,

As we wind down on another week, and embark on another month I wanted to just a take a moment on the past month and celebrate all the growth that has been made. The first month of the school year can be a transition month for everyone as schedules pick up, routines are put in place, and getting back into the "school mode" for students can take some time. I want to celebrate the growth that has been made in this past month made by all of the students, and I am looking forward to all of the continued growth both academically and socially that this class will continue to make this year.

Week in Review:

Writing: Writers completed their first writing process within the narrative writing unit where they had to brainstorm an idea, rehearse through storytelling, flash draft, revise, and edit all working with the same story. Here are some pictures of the students working through editing while using their word study packets to help with spelling!

Math: Our mathematicians had another successful quick quiz focused around 3 digit addition which they shared on Seesaw this week part of Room 95 News. (If you still need to be added, please let me know.) We ended our week just starting to explore 3 digit subtraction!

Reading: Readers have been learning new word solving strategies while also pushing their thinking in their reading. We are seeing some great volume from our readers as the pages have been turning this past month which is great to see in the beginning of the year!

Leader in Me: Students are going to begin focusing on Habit 1 which is about Being Proactive. We will learn more about the habit and some strategies we can use in our life in the month of October.

Content: Students finished their exploration stage in their research and will transition next week into taking their knowledge public about the Power of Flowers!

A Look Ahead:

That's all for this week!

Have a great weekend!

Mr. VW
