Last Full Week of School in 2021 is Gone!

Good Afternoon,

As I was writing that title I still find it hard to believe that in a couple of weeks we will be turning the calendar to another year. We have talked as a class as the calendar in December has moved along to try and make the most out of every single day. Planning and goal setting have been topics of conversations as to how we could make sure no matter what we were working on at that moment or subject we were learning about, to try and set a personal goal to make sure that we are ending the calendar year on a strong, positive note to build momentum to 2022. I feel the students have been working really hard, and pushing themselves to continue to grow as we head into the final school days of 2021.

Week in Review:

Writing: Writers have been learning strategies to try and make their opinion writing as powerful as they can, and trying to appeal to the emotions of the audience that way they can make it as convincing as possible!

Math: Students finished their unit completing their unit assessments to end the week. All of the hard work paid off as so many students did so well, and we talked how everyone should feel extremely proud of themselves. Expect to see the unit assessments coming home next week for your child to go over with you to show off their learning and knowledge.

Reading: Our detectives are hard at work solving mysteries in their books, but are learning that sometimes authors put red herring clues in to trick us or will have hidden clues to make it even harder for us to solve the mystery!

Leader in Me: Our class talked about effective time management. Ask your child, "Which activity is your biggest time-waster?"

Content: Students were doing explorations on what makes bridges so strong and how to go faster down a slide with a focus on the concepts of forces and friction.

A Look Ahead:

  • Pajama Day - Wednesday, December 22nd
    • Students can bring a stuffed animal/blanket in with them this day if they would like.
  • No School December 23rd- January 2nd.

Have a great weekend,

Mr. VW
