March in Full Swing
Good Afternoon,
This morning we got the chance to have a school assembly (picture below) which means we are embarking on another month this school year. The focus was about how as a school and class community to use synergy to bring out the strengths of everyone to reach success. This month's focus is on fostering teamwork, and building synergy which was a great way to end the week! As we begin our test prep units next week for the Wisconsin Forward testing, this message of focusing on our strengths and building each other up through teamwork is even more important. The students have worked hard all year, and have made great growth; this unit is about making sure students have all the skills and strategies to give themselves the best chance to have success. We are going to be going through this process together, and nobody will be alone, and we will be focusing on our strengths throughout the testing process.
A Week in Review:
Writing: Writers finished their second informational books on the animals they did research on. They have them ready for publication which will be given to other students in the school to read which they can learn from their writing and research they conducted!
Math: Students worked this week on the concepts of area and perimeter with different shapes. We broke down different figures to identify area, and how to best figure out the perimeter and area of figures we are working with.
Reading: Readers finished their research on their second animal, and worked on compiling all of their knowledge and research together in order to write about. The amount of information collected, and gathered was amazing to see which led to many new experts in our classroom!
Leader in Me: Our class talked about creating 3rd Alternatives. Ask your child, "How do you create a 3rd Alternative?"
Content: This week we studied climates of different areas in the world, and where we live. We noticed that their is a pattern on climates based off of where places are located on the maps students put together.
A Look Ahead:
