March is Upon Us
Good Afternoon,
As we head into March, we wrapped our KAT week with a celebration this afternoon along with a whole school photo showing off the brand new NDLC shirts that every student received today. NDLC is truly a special place to be, and it was on display all week with all of the students. It was another great week of learning and growing, and I am looking forward to continue to push ourselves for these final 3 months of the school year.
Week in Review:
Writing: Writers completed their informational books about the animal they have been doing research on in reading. They worked to elaborate their writing so that they included their own thoughts and ideas to go along with the facts they researched on about their animals.
Math: Students ended their week showing off their knowledge on the unit assessment. The unit focused on fractions, time, and analyzing data with graphs. Next week, we will begin going more in depth in our next unit learning about area and perimeter.
Reading: Readers were working hard on their research on their animals with their research clubs. They began to research their 2nd animal, and are using their super powers for helping them figure out the main idea when reading nonfiction.
Leader in Me: Our class talked about optimizing strengths. Ask your child, "What are your strengths?"
Content: Students became experts on being able to predict when it is possibly going to storm outside. The engagement was tremendous, and they are excited to show off their knowledge about local weather patterns and weather prediction.
A Look Ahead:
- Wisconsin Forward testing is coming soon in April, and 3rd and 4th graders at NDLC will begin test prep which will help give students extra tips and strategies for this state testing that takes place. If you have any questions on Forward testing, please feel free to reach out to me.
- Monday, March 14th - No School for Students
