Week 7 is knocked out of the park!
Good Afternoon,
Our 2020/2021 school year is 7 weeks gone already, and I am so proud of the learning and community that is happening in our classroom daily. The students have come ready to learn everyday with great attitudes, and it is a testament to all of you at home being that positive role models for your child's learning. I am extremely grateful for that, and our opportunity to be in the classroom learning daily!
Week in Review:
Math: We finished up our first unit which was adding and subtracting within 3 digit numbers, and have started our learning of our next unit. This next unit we start to explore multiplication, and the first couple days the students energy and eagerness to learn has laid a great foundation for them as we begin this new learning!
Writing: Students finished up their narrative unit of writing true stories. The growth from the beginning of the unit to the end was tremendous in all of the writers, which is a great celebration! The students started today to brainstorm ideas for their next writing unit which is informational writing.
Reading: This week we dove right into our nonfiction reading, as we learned how to rev up our minds for nonfiction reading. The big emphasis in this unit is to be able to identify the main idea and supporting details of the texts we are reading. We also talked about how we are becoming experts of the topics we are reading about, so we practiced how to teach others about what we learn!
Looking Ahead:
Next week is Homecoming week for KASD. Here are next week's dress up days!
Monday, October 19: Pajama Day
Tuesday, October 20: Wear Purple Day
Wednesday, October 21: Crazy Sock Day
Thursday, October 22: Hat Day or Crazy Hair Day
Friday, October 23: District School Spirit Day, Wear Kaukauna Gear
The following week is Red Ribbon Week. These dress up days were sent out earlier this week but take a close look because WEDNESDAY has changed.
Monday, October 26: Sweat Pants Day
Tuesday, October 27: Wear Flannel/Plaid Day
Wednesday, October 28: Wear costume or wear orange day
Wearing costumes is something that is fairly new to NDLC! Please keep costumes school appropriate. It will also be important that the student’s face is not entirely covered.
Lastly, have a great weekend and be well!
Mr. VW
