And just like that, March is upon us!

 Good Afternoon,

The students have really been enjoying the nice weather we have been having outside, and this past week enjoyed the extra reading activities we had to Celebrate Read Across America Week. March becomes a very busy time of the year so it is important to find the enjoyment in the process of each day or it can start to wear you down, and we will continue to try to do our best every single day!

Week in Review:

Math: Students spent this week learning concepts all about Area and Perimeter. It was a different way of thinking, but by the end of the week we had felt comfortable about understanding the concepts and how to solve for the two of them.

Writing: Writers embarked on their next journey of writing all about a topic they are doing research on in reading. It is great to see them really push themselves, and group members to make their writing the best it can be!

Reading: Readers were working hard on their research of their second animal, and the knowledge they are gaining is amazing! We have so many experts in this class on a wide range of animals they are researching. 

A Look Ahead:

Conferences are set for the following days: March 23rd & 25th.

The link to sign up will be coming out next week! I will also be sending a Google Form out via email for you to fill out at your convenience. It is a way for us to make sure we cover exactly what you want to hear at conferences.

 Good Afternoon, As we approach the midway point of November with Thanksgiving break around the corner it's a great time to stop and reflect on the learning journey so far. With conferences happening I always enjoy this time because it allows us the time to reflect on the journey so far, and the progress we want to continue to strive for going forward. End of April!

Good Afternoon, We wrapped up another month of school today, and it is hard to believe we only have one month of school left in this school year. It's been a great to be on the learning journey with all of the students, and as we head into the final month its amazing to reflect on the growth and progress that everyone has made. I am excited to see the students continue to grow this final month of school for the 2021-2022 year! Week in Review: Writing: Writers began their final writing unit where they are able to write realistic fiction stories. This is a brand new unit from Teachers College that our school is being able to use before it goes public next year. The writers are loving being able to create their own characters in this writing, and bring them to life using a lot of the strategies they have learned from their how to write a true story unit. Have An Enjoyable Spring Break!

Good Afternoon, Shorter blog this week as we had the short week heading into break. I hope everyone has an enjoyable break, and much needed for the students because they have been working so hard since they came back from winter break making such great growth. This past week they began working on a culminating writing book with their research groups that brought great excitement that writers will be working together on the publication process next week. We continued our math prep as we have our final two days of Forward testing April 20th and 21st which will be the two math sessions. Readers worked to finalize any additional research for their books, and we spent time working on Identity Webs to understand who we are as individuals, and celebrating the differences that we all have that make us all special and unique.
