A Great End to Celebrate NDLC Week!

Good Afternoon,

Today we ended our Celebrate NDLC week with a Glow Party, and a game day afternoon. It was a great way to end the week, where the kids were able to just play and spend time with classmates. We were also able to learn about our school mascot the Husky in a presentation in the gym today where we were able to see a real Husky! The 3rd Graders have all been working so hard all year, and it was great to see the excitement in the room/school as we had another successful week at NDLC. It's weeks like these that remind myself just how thankful I am to be a part of this school community, and I hope all the students and families feel the same way.

Week in Review:

Writing: Essay writers became more independent this week working through the writing process. They chose their own books of a read aloud from this school year that they wanted to write their literary essay about. It's been great to see the continued growth from the writers!

Math: This week was filled with a unit test as well as a mid year assessment, where students were able to show off all of their knowledge! They did an awesome job, and its clear to see the growth students are gaining!

Reading: Readers have been getting to know their characters in their independent books, and now are working in book clubs to build and track ideas about characters. We ended the week by starting to track characters up and down the story mountain!

Leader in Me: Our class talked about having mutual respect. Ask your child, "Why is having respect for others important?"

Content: Students researched First Nations and People's way of life, resources they had, how they lived, as well as what it was like in land where we now live in comparison to around the rest of what would become the United States,

A Look Ahead:

  • Monday, January 31st: Pajama/Comfy Clothes Day
  • Report Cards will be posted next week on Infinite Campus

That's all for this week as we head into February next week, which is hard to believe!

Have a great weekend,

Mr. VW
