Chilly January Weeks

Good Afternoon,

As students headed home after their half day of school it was clear to see the joy and excitement on the faces as we wrapped up another week of school. The 3rd graders have been working so hard daily, and what I have really enjoyed is seeing each student growing in their confidence academically but also socially. It truly feels like a family in the classroom where everyone knows each other well, and gets along while treating everyone with respect and kindness. I hope everyone enjoys their day off Monday as I am looking forward to another fun filled week with Celebrate NDLC Week coming up

Week in Review:

Writing: Writers completed their first week of writing literary essays where they learned new strategies to lift the level of their writing. We ended the week by sharing our writing with 4th graders where the writers received compliments on what they are doing well, and tips to keep improving their writing going forward.

Math: The 3rd graders have been working hard trying to solve the tricky multi step word problems that involve all 4 operations. Their perseverance in solving these problems didn't go unnoticed this week!

Reading: Readers are working on becoming experts on the characters in their books. We are noticing patterns, which helps us develop deep theories that we compared to below the surface theories like an iceberg!

Leader In Me: Our class learned about Emotional Bank Accounts. Ask your child, "What is an emotional bank account?"

Content: Researchers were working on discovering the different technology First People and Nations had, as well as how did initial meetings and relationships go between Native Americans and Europeans.

A Look Ahead:

No School Monday, January 24th.

Dress Up Days Next Week:

Have a Great Weekend!
