April Around the Corner!

Image
Good Afternoon, As we wrap up conference week I want to say thank you for such a great week of connecting with all of you. Conferences are truly one of my favorite times of the year because of the fact that we get to pause, and reflect on all the growth each student is making. We look up and it is already April at the end of next week, and the school year always seems to fly by so these moments of reflection are critical when thinking back on how far everyone has come since September. Looking forward to ending the year with 2 more months of great growth and opportunity ahead of us. Week in Review: Writing: Writers have been working extremely hard to continue to lift the level of their writing in the test prep unit. They have been using various strategies and charts to help guide them to make sure they can get the best possible score when answering the questions! Math: Students continued their work with fractions, perimeter and area this week exploring the concepts through math ta...

March Madness!

Good Afternoon, In the sports world this time of year is referred to as "March Madness" for the men's and women's NCAA basketball tournaments going on. This time of year in the classroom is a busy time as well as we look ahead to conferences next week, and students getting excited about the change in weather with warmer days on the horizon while state testing is coming next month. The school year has just been flying by as it usually does, and I am really looking forward to connecting with all of you next week during conferences to celebrate all the growth students have made, and map out a road plan for what the remainder of the year looks like. Week in Review: Writing: Writers began their test prep in writing working on identifying details to support answers that might be on the test. Also, they worked to discover what exactly is the precise, best answer then supporting that to get the best possible score. Math: Students worked through perimeter and area problems, a...

March in Full Swing

Good Afternoon, This morning we got the chance to have a school assembly (picture below) which means we are embarking on another month this school year. The focus was about how as a school and class community to use synergy to bring out the strengths of everyone to reach success. This month's focus is on fostering teamwork, and building synergy which was a great way to end the week! As we begin our test prep units next week for the Wisconsin Forward testing, this message of focusing on our strengths and building each other up through teamwork is even more important. The students have worked hard all year, and have made great growth; this unit is about making sure students have all the skills and strategies to give themselves the best chance to have success. We are going to be going through this process together, and nobody will be alone, and we will be focusing on our strengths throughout the testing process. A Week in Review: Writing: Writers finished their second informational b...

March is Upon Us

Good Afternoon, As we head into March, we wrapped our KAT week with a celebration this afternoon along with a whole school photo showing off the brand new NDLC shirts that every student received today. NDLC is truly a special place to be, and it was on display all week with all of the students. It was another great week of learning and growing, and I am looking forward to continue to push ourselves for these final 3 months of the school year.  Week in Review:  Writing: Writers completed their informational books about the animal they have been doing research on in reading. They worked to elaborate their writing so that they included their own thoughts and ideas to go along with the facts they researched on about their animals. Math: Students ended their week showing off their knowledge on the unit assessment. The unit focused on fractions, time, and analyzing data with graphs. Next week, we will begin going more in depth in our next unit learning about area and perimete...
