Good Afternoon, We finished up our short week doing some Halloween themed activities, and building classroom community! It has been a great start to the year with everyone, and I am so thankful for the support from all of you. The students have been absolutely tremendous to work with everyday, and I am proud of all the learning and growing both academically and socially we have made heading into our fall break! Week in Review:  Math: Students have been continuing to work hard with multiplication and division, with this week a focus being on multiplying and dividing with both 10 and 9! Writing: Our writers have been drafting, and starting to revise their informational books. We have so many experts on such a wide range of topics in the classroom it is impressive to see them show off their knowledge! Reading: We have continued to work in nonfiction texts with an emphasis on letting the texts we are reading spark conversations with others, and also having conversations in our mind while

8 weeks in the wagon!

Eight! 8 weeks of school in, and November right around the corner, can it be? As the dark days of winter loom, we are making our room as bright as we can with the learning and connections happening every day. It's important that we continue to be a light for each other as we navigate this year together, and I am so proud of all the students taking on that light not only for themselves but for their peers making every day the best it can possibly be! Week in Review:  In Math this week, we were working hard on the nuts and bolts of multiplication and division. A lot of great learning and math talk throughout the week, and it was reflected in their first quick quiz of the new unit with some spectacular scores showing off their learning! Our writers have taken the shift to writing informational books in tremendous stride, and are using their strategies to really be an effective information writer. Keep an eye out on Seesaw for their information books to be shared out coming soon! Readi

Week 7 is knocked out of the park!

Good Afternoon, Our 2020/2021 school year is 7 weeks gone already, and I am so proud of the learning and community that is happening in our classroom daily. The students have come ready to learn everyday with great attitudes, and it is a testament to all of you at home being that positive role models for your child's learning. I am extremely grateful for that, and our opportunity to be in the classroom learning daily! Week in Review: Math: We finished up our first unit which was adding and subtracting within 3 digit numbers, and have started our learning of our next unit. This next unit we start to explore multiplication, and the first couple days the students energy and eagerness to learn has laid a great foundation for them as we begin this new learning! Writing: Students finished up their narrative unit of writing true stories. The growth from the beginning of the unit to the end was tremendous in all of the writers, which is a great celebration! The students started today to b

Week 6 is in the Rearview Mirror!

Good Afternoon, It is truly amazing to me that we have 6 weeks of school in. The idea that we have been able to make this work both in person, and virtually is a credit to everyone. It truly is a team effort, and I am so thankful for your continued to support as we navigate this learning journey together, where the most important thing always is the kids, and I will continue to do my very best for your child as week keep moving on this school year.  Week in Review: Math: We are approaching the end of our first unit. Students have persevered and really pushed themselves in math, and have understood math doesn't come as quick as we would like sometimes; If we work together and persevere we can accomplish great learning! Writing:  Students are in the midst of drafting and revising their final stories in our narrative units! They have grown so much as writers and are really becoming job captains of their writing! Reading: We just wrapped up our first narrative reading unit, and will b

Virtual Week has disconnected!

Good Afternoon, We have made it to the end of a full week of virtual learning! Was it easy? No. Did we persevere? Absolutely! From the wifi not connecting to the Chromebook microphones not working, and everything in between; we persevered and were able to learn throughout the way. There are two clear things that I will remember from this past week: #1. The graciousness and patience all of you displayed for both myself and child, 2. How much closer our class came together. You learn to appreciate things just a little more when they are taken away, and that is something our class went through together, and we are coming out of it even stronger, and more together! Week in Review: Math: We began to learn our subtraction strategies within 3 digit numbers. We persevered through what felt like some long, grueling learning days! Writing: Writers finished up realistic fiction stories, started working on entries in our writers notebooks, and even got to experience some Sacred Writing Time! Read
